H&K Equipment is the premier dealer of forklifts, container handlers, railcar movers, utility vehicles, and more in Pittsburgh and the greater tristate area. Headquartered minutes from downtown Pittsburgh and with additional facilities in West Virginia, we sell, rent, service, and rebuild the most unique selection of custom and heavy-duty material handling equipment in the industry. We’re seeking an experienced Freight Broker to help grow our business, onboard customers, and coordinate freight schedules with our dispatch team for our transportation group, CICKO based out of Coraopolis, PA. You’ll work to secure new clients, address customer inquiries, resolve shipment issues, and maintain accurate records.

The ideal candidate will have experience in freight dispatching and/or brokerage, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks. Applicants must have a proven record in a service or logistics environment. This is a full-time position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Generate new customers
• Onboard customers
• Negotiate rates
• Handle paperwork including contracts, shipping orders, and invoicing.
• Schedule freight deliveries and pickups of equipment, parts, and other loads
• Schedule drivers, plan routes, and dispatch drivers to customer locations
• Prepare dispatch documents, as well as freight bills and invoices
• Log customer shipping schedules, complaints, and review drivers' logs
• Work with Transportation Management Software (TMS)
• Available for occasional after-hours calls

REQUIREMENTS

• At least two years of experience as a freight or truck dispatcher; 3-5 years of experience preferred
• Ability to work under pressure is essential
• Knowledge of applicable transportation regulations and laws
• Experience with DAT load boards
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook
• High school diploma or equivalency
