Job Description



AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Geologist for employment in the Chelmsford, MA or Providence, RI office. This position would support the Environmental business line, primarily working on Federal projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilizes scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems.

  • Prepares technical work plans and reports.

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Plan, execute, analyze and report on environmental measures in natural systems.

  • Familiar with project invoicing and cash flow management

  • Manages and directs professional and technical staff to complete complex environmental projects

  • Leads teams by utilizing advanced scientific principles, theories, and practices

  • Apply knowledge of natural sciences (chemistry, physics, biology, hydrology, and mathematics) to explain observations.

  • Utilizes existing technologies and past experience to develop technical solutions to complex problems

  • Conduct oversight of subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies.

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance

  • Analyzes financial statements and completes budget tracking

  • Performs work with minimal direction with periodic reporting to area manager

  • Oversees the preparation of work plans and organizes project studies

  • Performs complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems with the support of the project team

  • Supervises junior and mid-level staff during all phases of project work

  • Conducts reviews and provides staff feedback for continued improvement

  • Flexibility to work on a multitude of projects, a positive attitude, and commitment to workplace health and safety

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Geology or related field + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Valid U.S. Driver's License

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Geology or related field

  • Professional License (PG)

  • 7+ years of experience in environmental remediation (soil and water) project management

  • Experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations

  • Experience with developing conceptual site models, and preparing remediation strategies

  • Ability to demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employees.

  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and safely drive a full-size pickup truck.

  • Be medically fit for wearing a respirator

  • Ability to travel.
