Pathologist Assistant
Position Summary: V-Tech Solutions is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Pathologist Assistant to support laboratory operations for our client. This vital role involves the gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens, assistance with autopsy procedures, and the preparation of tissue samples for microscopic analysis. The ideal candidate will help ensure the delivery of accurate and timely diagnostic results to support high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
· Ensure proper specimen accessioning and verification of patient identifiers
· Perform macroscopic description and dissection of surgical specimens, including complex cancer cases
· Prepare and submit tissue sections for light microscopy
· Perform surgical pathology special procedures
· Conduct prosecution of adult, neonatal/perinatal, pediatric, forensic, or infectious autopsies
· Perform autopsy special procedures
· Assist with the preparation of final summary reports and clinical-pathological correlations
· Monitor compliance with regulatory agencies (e.g., The Joint Commission, CAP, state/local)
· Maintain quality assurance monitors, including turn-around time reports and concordance tracking
· Apply laboratory safety standards and government regulations within anatomic pathology
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field required, master’s preferred
· In lieu of a degree, 10 years of relevant technical lab experience may be accepted
· Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pathologist Assistant
· PA (ASCP) certification or eligibility required
· Familiarity with pathology techniques, lab equipment, and LIS/Microsoft applications preferred
