We are seeking a strategic and results-driven HCM System Manager to lead the administration, development, and optimization of our Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) system. This role requires a leader who can effectively balance technical expertise with business acumen, drive operational excellence, and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization. The successful candidate will have proven experience with leadership, managing enterprise systems, making impactful decisions to support organizational growth and efficiency, and a deep understanding of HR operations. You will serve as a key liaison between HR, Org Development, IT, Operations, and various business units to ensure the system meets evolving organizational needs.
Overall ownership for the ongoing design, deployment, and maintenance of the Workday HCM system
Manages all aspects of planning, development, administration, optimization, testing, configuration, data management, implementation activities for associated modules, reporting, and user support
Develop and execute a strategic roadmap aligned with organizational goals, ensuring Workday becomes the digital front door for people operations
Monitor Workday technology trends, recommend and drive innovations to enhance system capabilities and user experience
Lead and mentor the Workday Support Team, including administrators, analysts, and consultants ensuring day-to-day systems support is balanced with strategic enhancements and projects
Collaborate with stakeholders, IT, and external vendors to align system capabilities with business needs and continuously improve service delivery
Identify and promote training and continuous learning for end users and the Workday Support Team
Oversee end-to-end project lifecycles including planning, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support
Establish and lead project management discipline, governance and change management processes to ensure successful adoption
Manage system implementations, upgrades, integrations, and enhancements with a focus on user experience and business value
Lead the configuration and maintenance activities for Workday modules: Core HCM, Compensation, Payroll, Absence, Time Tracking, Talent Management, Recruiting, Learning, Reporting and Prism
Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, ensuring platform health and continuous improvement
Serve as a subject matter expert for Workday functionality and best practices
Support the design and development of dashboards and custom reports to support data-driven decision-making
Ensure data integrity through regular audits, resolving data discrepancies, and implementing data quality controls
Leverage AI and analytics to enhance insights, automate processes, and improve user experience
Overall accountability for data governance, security and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
Ensure up-to-date documentation of system functions, processes, capabilities
Promote Workday best practices and stay current with updates via Workday Community, Workday learning modules, and networking
Proven experience related to implementation, configuration, and maintenance of HCM systems
Strong understanding of HR processes, data management, and system integrations
Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills including the ability to clearly articulate messages within all levels in the organization, including breaking down complex topics for target audiences
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Ability to prioritize workload and provide timely follow-up and resolution
Ability to motivate and set the direction for a team
Demonstrate high levels of integrity, discretion and confidentiality
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
5+ years of Workday HCM experience, including 2+ years in a managerial role
Workday certification(s) preferred (e.g., Core HCM, Compensation, Advanced Reporting)
Project Management Certification and SHRM-CP a plus
